Profile:

 

Since winning a prize at an international flute competition in 1985, she has been actively playing as a solo flutist in Japan and abroad.

During her first year at Music High School of Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, she entered Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan USA. Then after a year, she was accepted to Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, N.Y. where she received the Bachelor of Music degree with distinction. 

She has also spent three years in Germany studying at the National Music School in Munich where she received the certificate of Meister Klasse. She has studied under prestigious teachers such as: Sonoko Mimura, Masaru Kawasaki, Bonita Boyd, Paul Meisen. 

She is the first prize winner at the 1st Japan Flute Competition with a special award, and the Third prize winner at 34th ARD Munich International Music Competition.

 

She has made recordings for DENON label, "West Side Story" with Haruna Miyake, "Lullabies" with Ayako Shinozaki and for her own label "Jungle Gym",  "From My Playground" with Kyoko Koyama which includes works of Bach, Roussel and Sancan.

 

 

She formerly held the following positions:

Associate Professor at Musashino Academie Musicae, Tokyo,  guest lecturer at the Elizabeth Music University, Hiroshima, and an instructor at the Powell Flute Academy, Tokyo.
